Replacement Taxes Disbursed by County

Replacement taxes are revenues collected by the state of Illinois and paid to local governments to replace money that was lost by local governments when their powers to impose personal property taxes on corporations, partnerships, and other business entities were taken away.

The following links provide detailed disbursement amounts of Replacement Taxes for each local government located in the county listed. Note: Local governments with boundaries located in more than one county will have the corresponding amounts listed in each county.

Please Note:The Personal Property Replacement Tax distribution for December 2011, representing replacement taxes collected in October and November, is significantly less than last year.

There are several reasons:
  • Amnesty inflated 2010 receipts,
  • A required transfer from the Refund Fund to the PPRT Fund inflated 2010 receipts,
  • Bonus depreciation depressed 2011 receipts, and
  • About $3.7 million was spent in 2011 from the PPRT Fund for local government officials’ stipends and for Regional School Superintendents.
